Google Experiment Results - Only the First Anchor Text Counts

Randfish over at SEOmoz published results from an interesting experiment he recently ran on a major consideration for your anchor text placement and internal linking structure when you have multiple links pointing to the same page. Read it here.

In a nutshell you should learn the following from Rands post:

  1. When you have two links pointing to the same page of your web site, use a nofollow on the first link if you want the second link’s anchor text to count
  2. Start thinking about the value of testing, don’t just test your PPC campaigns. It can be complex and time consuming, but the returns tend to be very high.
